Closing the Gap Healthcare supports you every step of the way.
Message from our CEO Leighton McDonald
To Our Clients, Families and Caregivers,
As we start 2021, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Canada continues to be concerning. While the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccines in Canada herald a long-term solution to the pandemic, we must continue to take many steps in the short-term to reduce COVID-19 transmission. The CTG team is actively monitoring the situation in all communities in which we are present. We are working closely with public health departments, government, and other health care organizations to manage the impact on our clients, our healthcare providers, and the healthcare system. Our number one priority will always be the safety and well-being of our clients and CTG team members, every day and at every community, school, or clinic visit. All CTG providers are very well informed about COVID-19 and how to keep everyone safe. Our team members take several steps to ensure your safety as well as the safety of the CTG team member.
♦Before your visit:
→ A CTG team member will be asking you a series of screening questions the day before your visit and again at the time of your visit or appointment.
→ It is critical that you answer all the questions honestly as it will help us keep everyone safe. Be assured that regardless of the screening results, our providers will continue to provide excellent care to you, but they may need to take additional precautions for your safety.
♦At your visit
→ Your CTG health care provider will be wearing both a mask and a face shield or goggles.
→ You, and any caregiver or family members who will be in the room with you are asked to wear a cloth mask or face covering whenever a CTG team member is providing care to you.
→ All nursing and physiotherapy clients are asked to wear a mask when visiting a CTG clinic.
→ Our younger clients also need to wear a mask when receiving nursing or therapy services, whether that be in the home or a school setting. Schools also require students, teachers, and staff members to wear a mask.
→ If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you.
Wearing a mask or face covering in an indoor public setting is the law in most provinces now. CTG realizes a home is not a public space like a grocery store, however when a CTG team member is there to provide care, the same risks are present as if you were interacting closely in a public setting. Kindly continue to also clean your hands frequently and practice social distancing. Combined with the steps above, these actions greatly reduce the risk for yourself, your caregivers and loved ones as well as CTG team members.
The arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in Canada certainly brings hopefulness to the fight against this pandemic. However, we have many kilometres to travel together yet before we beat this. We cannot let our guard down. By working together, we can continue to provide high-quality care to you safely. We consider you part of the CTG One Team Made for Caring and if we continue to care for the safety of one another, we will get through this together.
